Why did you decide to study at Central Saint Martins?

I wanted to be in the London, right at the centre of things. I use to read about Central Saint Martins when I was younger in Greece, so it was like a dream come true.

What was the best bit about living and studying in London?

The vibe, the colours, the street fashion and all these amazingly weird and talented people you would meet in the most obscure places. Unconventionality is celebrated rather than suppressed.

What top tips would you give to students who are beginning their studies?

If you don't love design, do something else. It is a fascinating but also very demanding job, so you really have to have the passion, verging to obsession.

And for students about to graduate?

Always think one step ahead. There is fierce competition, so be different and think further than most people.

What are you up to now? How did you get there?

I run my own design consultancy, specialising in furniture, lighting and interior design. I went to the RCA having worked for other consultancies for three years prior. I always knew that I wanted to run my own company, it is very exciting to combine your design skills with some business skills.

How has Central Saint Martins helped in your chosen career path?

Central Saint Martins has been instrumental. My tutors helped me get my first job and they are now my colleagues too, as they invited me back to teach at the course. It is a very supportive college, with very widespread connections.
