Biography

I am Senior Lecturer: Academic Enhancement Model at Central Saint Martins working for UAL's Teaching and Learning Exchange. I am on secondment from the Graphic Communication Design Programme, where my specialism is information design and digital publishing.

As part of UAL's Teaching and Learning Exchange, I support staff at CSM and develop UAL’s research into the pedagogy of attainment, retention and progression. This follows on from my work for UAL's Careers and Employability, including the Creative Attributes Framework.

In my creative career, I have been a judge for the UK's Stack Awards, BSME Rising Star and PPA awards and I was recently nominated for a CSM teaching award. At present my academic research includes a local partnership with Women at the Well, a King's Cross centre for vulnerable women.

As the author of two books: Editorial Design for Lawrence King and Winning Portfolios for Quarto, I spoke at Society of News Designers conference in Malmo 2016 and collaborated on the Modern Magazine conference 2014 - 2016. I was formerly an editorial art director, working in NYC and as Design Director for ELLE UK, ELLE Decoration, Guardian and BBC Worldwide. I co-founded the UK's Editorial Designers Organisation: a non-profit design network and was director of design studio Belknap & Co with partner John Belknap.
