Biography

Tell us about yourself…

Having run a busy design studio and been in professional practice now for more than 20 years, I’ve acquired a significant portfolio of knowledge that ranges from Graphic Design through to Architecture and Computer Science.  I initially came to Central Saint Martins to work as a studio technician for five weeks and I’ve been here 12 years now!

What do you love most about your job?

It’s working with students. If you ask anybody here they’ll always say the same thing. The students are always rethinking and reimagining - coming up with new ideas all the time - and when my job interacts with that it becomes really interesting and exciting.  It’s always really good to pass knowledge on, and at the same time learn new things from the different processes and ways of doing things that the students come up with.

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

I do a variety of things so I get inspiration from a variety of different places – especially from the interaction with students and colleagues who I collaborate with daily.

What advice would you give to new and/or current students?

All students will be exposed to new forms of thinking that haven’t necessarily matured and are being developed and they should search out this thinking because that’s what will really drive what they do while they’re here. And it doesn’t necessarily come from the people they most expect it to!
