Working at height

Information about working safely at height.

About 87% of major accidents are caused by people falling 2m or less, according to the Health and Safety Executive. Injuries can occur from the impact of a fall, or somebody might be injured by an object (e.g. can of paint or a tool) falling from a ladder onto the ground below. Approximately 14 workplace deaths a year are caused by falls from height. This is why it is important to follow the health and safety standard below:

If, following a risk assessment, you decide that using a ladder is the best equipment for the task you are undertaking then you will need to complete the training and ensure that you carry out the necessary checks.
